Twist

2000-06-14 - Drum Logos Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, Japan

Among the best Phish jams of all time, this Twist spans 30 minutes with a small return to the main theme around 17 minutes in. Only to completely dissolve and revitalize from the ashes, the second jam segment is pure unadulterated psychedelic Phish before the band lands on a hard rocking groove.

This jam fades into space and then returns with a vengeance, navigating eerie space, similar to parts of the drive in jam, before reaching a blistering peak

A psychedelic masterpiece that sounds like little else.

Not a dull moment out of the 20+ minutes. Starts in a very danceable staccato 2.0 speed funk rock groove for a while where Mike kills it, but moves to a bliss jam similar to some of the best of 3.0 and reaches an hosey peak filled with Trey trills. Must hear along with other June 04 highlights.

With Under Pressure jam. Love it. Get Back, Under Pressure, and Long Tall Glasses teases.

The first monster Twist from a brilliant year for the song. Trey's tone is raw and compressed sounding at the start of the jam. It eventually morphs into beautiful major key bliss->Light. One of the best sets of '15:)

Such a unique and playful version, eerie lengthwise quotes at the beginning, full on Manteca teases throughout and silky segues on both ends

The band jumped on a heavy riff (Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat apparently) and got dark and dirty.

A mellow, laid back version that has a wonderfully moody jam.

The magnaball version shows how loose the band is at the end of summer 2015 -- playful start stopping like it was the early 90s, an on-the-dime blues jam, an Immigrant jam, and a perfect segue into Weekapaug. Not the greatest Twist but certainly is special in a lot of ways.
